My First Solo Flight at the Alta Gracia Aero Club

Have you ever dreamt of something BIG but felt that it was out of your reach, but at the same time, you never stopped dreaming about it?

The other day on August 27th, this particular dream of mine finally became a reality. After 34 hours of flight training, I finally flew my first  solo flight.
It´s difficult to describe the sensation of flying an airplane for the first time by yourself.  Totally concentrated, you draw from the repetitive instructions that your flight instructor has drilled into your head over and over again during the course of  many months.

What I was feeling for most of my flight!
Up in the air during takeoff, an overwhelming sensation of  open sky is spread out in front of you as your gyrating flight instruments all  compete for your attention while you scan in and out of the cockpit watching your horizon . Finally you reach your desired altitude and follow thru with your flight pattern. As I am on the 3rd leg of my flight pattern close to base and  final landing , I start to feel comfortable and for the first time, I take a relaxing look out of the window and  smile from cheek to cheek .

OMG !!! She´s coming in too low on Final  !!!!

I smile because I am flying in the same atmosphere with the billowy white clouds that I have so often looked up at and admired from below,  I smile because I am flying along with one of natures most beautiful vertebrate animals, the bird,  and  because I have a spectacular  view of the Sierras Chicas Mountains  surrounding me. I realize that I  am experiencing what my idols Amelia Earheart and Beryl Markham pioneered before me. As I approach for my final landing, I am aware that I am too low and try to make corrections.  I wait for my flare, my nose increments up  as my back tires hit the runway. There it is… a safe landing, Did It !!!  First hurdle done!!! ... and now my dream of becoming a pilot, is finally at arms reach.

A congratulations from the instructors and fellow students!
