In last night´s presentation of Dr. Augusto L.Piccon´s book ; ¨GUIAS DE RESIDENTES, VERANEANTES Y VISITANTES DESTACADOS EN MI PUEBLO¨, at the Alta Gracia Book Fair, I was surprised and quite flattered to learn that the great Tango singer, Carlos Gardel, had stayed in my house years ago when it was formally known as PENSION FIFINA in the early 1920´s. Apparently, before he was well known, Carlos Gardel wanted to lodge at the Sierras Hotel but they wouldn´t accept him. They felt that since he was a tango singer, that he was of a shady character. He then decided to lodge at the PENSION FIFINA, at Giorello 279 owned and run by the beautiful Fifina whom he fell head over heels in love.
En la presentación de anoche del libro del Dr. Augusto L.Piccon 's ; ¨ GUIAS DE RESIDENTES, VERANEANTES Y VISITANTES DESTACADOS EN MI PUEBLO ¨ en la Feria de Libros en Alta Gracia, me sorprendió y muy halagado al saber que el gran cantante de tango Carlos Gardel hospedo en mi casa hace años cuando era PENSION FIFINA. Todavia no era tan famoso y cuando quiso hospedarse en el Sierras Hotel, no lo aceptaron porque pensaron que era un cantor de tangos que parecía un ¨malevo¨. Luego fue a Pension Fifina en la Calle Giorello 279 donde él y la propietaria, la hermosa Fifina, se enamoró.
